Woensdag 19 september 2007, 17:12 - T-Mobile gaat de iPhone van Apple in Nederland voeren. Dat bevestigt T-Mobile Nederland tegenover Webwereld.

Vandaag maakte Apple-baas Steve Jobs in Duitsland bekend dat T-Mobile de iPhone in Duitsland gaat introduceren vanaf 9 november. Tot de overeenkomst behoort ook een distributiedeal voor Oostenrijk en Nederland.

Een woordvoerder van T-Mobile Nederland bevestigt dat. "Maar we weten nog geen bijzonderheden, zoals wanneer de introductie plaatsvindt." Vermoedelijk zal dat pas in 2008 het geval zijn.

De iPhone gaat in elk geval 399 euro kosten, hoewel nog weinig bekend is over de bijbehorende abonnementen. iPhone gebruikers kunnen gratis gebruikmaken van wifi-hotspots van T-Mobile.

Daarnaast gaat T-Mobile zijn Duitse edge-netwerk uitbreiden omdat de iPhone voorlopig geen 3G (umts/hsdpa) ondersteunt. Of dat ook gaat gelden voor Nederland is niet duidelijk. Daar nam KPN dochter Telfort, de enige edge-exploitant, onlangs juist afscheid van dit protocol.

Dinsdag maakte Apple bekend dat 02 de iPhone in Engeland gaat leveren en in Frankrijk wordt dat zo goed als zeker Orange.
